By keying teaching and assessment techniques to the diverse ways people think and learn, teachers will be surprised at how much smarter their students get. When I received a C in my introductory psychology course, I concluded and my teacher concurred that I did not have the ability to pursue my true interest and intended major— psychology. I decided to switch to mathematics. But discovering that I had even less ability in that subject, I returned to psychology; three years later I was graduated summa cum laude with exceptional distinction in that field. As a high school student I had a similar experience. My French teacher advised me that, while I did reasonably well in the subject, I lacked the natural ability to learn foreign languages and ought to take this fact into account in my future planning.
Results of the study indicated that: The thinking styles between the two studies were significantly different. The means of legislative, judicial, monarchic, hierarchic, external and liberal thinking styles were significantly reduced among the students from year to year Results of the study also indicated that the thinking styles among the male and female students were significantly different. The means of executive and monarchic styles were higher in female students, whereas the mean of judicial style was higher in male students. From the results of the study it may be concluded that the thinking styles can be changed over the time.
All of us, including our students, have preferred ways of learning. Teachers often refer to these differences as learning styles , though this term may imply that students are more consistent across situations than is really the case. One student may like to make diagrams to help remember a reading assignment, whereas another student may prefer to write a sketchy outline instead.

We recognise similarities and from experience apply tried solutions to new problems. Typical students with normally functioning memory and recall can usually work away from the teaching setting, can stop and start pieces of work and so approach their coursework assignments flexibly and reflect on what they have done. People with AS tend to have developed along a parallel but slightly different route.

Although human beings share many important characteristics, they also differ from one another in significant ways. To understand, or apply one has to employ the powers of thinking. The way in which an individual thinks or perceives a problem has come across a drastic change due to the rapid growth of science and technology. Innovations, new developments and solution to issues emerge as a result of creativity and curiosity-driven approaches. Individuals vary along such dimensions as intelligence, ability, gender, styles of thinking and learning etc.
Learning styles refer to a range of competing and contested theories that aim to account for differences in individuals' learning. The idea of individualized learning styles became popular in the s,  and has greatly influenced education despite the criticism that the idea has received from some researchers. Studies further show that teachers cannot assess the learning style of their students accurately. There are many different learning styles models; one literature review identified 71 different models. David A. Kolb 's model is based on his experiential learning model, as explained in his book Experiential Learning. In order for learning to be effective, Kolb postulated, all four of these approaches must be incorporated.
While most of us fall across the spectrum of each of these styles, facilitating lessons that are engaging on all levels will give your students the best chance of success. Auditory learners like to hear solutions and examples explained to them, and may gravitate towards music subjects and group learning as a way to understand information. Auditory learners often have a high aptitude for distinguishing notes and tones in music and speech. Auditory learners might say words out loud or hum tones to better learn them. This strategy is key for keeping musical learners engaged in class lessons. Auditory learners will be engaged from start to finish.
